Network Technician
We are accredited by ACCSCT!
The Network Technician Program at Centura Institute in Orlando Florida prepares students for a gratifying and rewarding career as a Network Technician. Students initially begin by learning the fundamentals of computer hardware and software. Students then graduate to learning how to build computers, as well as how to optimally use computers and perform hardware and system maintenance.
Our curriculum consists of a detailed and comprehensive examination of hardware components, power supplies, storage, motherboards, ram, and the peripherals that form or are assembled from the computer. Our curriculum also incorporates the clinical training that is in great demand by today’s employers of Network Technicians.
Our hands-on exercises offer an excellent platform for students to not only familiarize themselves with computer concepts, but to also gain the confidence that can only come from actually working with the computers. Our school has a dedicated computer lab were students are assigned tasks that involve, among other things, installing computer operating systems, upgrading, installing printers and monitors, troubleshooting, network analyses, as well as removing and replacing defective components.
During the course of our 11 month program, Network Technician students progress into more advanced studies that cover fundamentals of Computer Networking, Internet Communication Protocols, TCP, UDP, HTTP, and FTP. These advanced studies also include the design, installation and configuration of Local Area Networks (LANs).
In hands-on exercises, students install several different versions of Microsoft operating systems, and properly configure the operating system for optimal performance. Additionally, students engage in the following clinical activities: manage Windows XP; manage Windows 2003 servers; perform backups; manage system files; troubleshoot operating system errors; as well as setup and configure Cisco routers and vlans in Cisco Switch hubs. Our training is based on industry standard Comptia, MCSE, and Cisco. We proudly utilize college level textbooks from the best book publishers in the country.
